Athletics
Providing mental health support in athletics is an area near and dear to my heart. I have shared my own struggles in recovery from injury, overcoming “mental blocks,” and navigating the athletic burnout often associated with competing at a high level, as well as navigating the emotional and identity shifts that come with retirement from high-level competition.
Athletes at any level often face unique mental and emotional challenges—both in competition, during injury recovery, and retirement. Many seek therapy when performance pressure, perfectionism, fear of failure, or intense self-criticism begin interfering with enjoyment and confidence. Others look for support during recovery from injuries, or post-retirement to navigate the loss of the “athlete identity.” Therapy provides a structured, evidence-based space to get to the root of emotional hurdles and reach your goals, whether they be personal or performance related.
